John M Hayes attend Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards
Rebecca Hopkinson, Regional Manager of our Central London office and Mark Bidwell, Regional Manager of our Amersham office were delighted to attend the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards on 12 June 2012 to support some of their clients.
The awards were non-profit making and arranged to celebrate the achievements of some of the top Legal Aid Lawyers in the country. The awards ceremony was in its tenth year and had moved to larger premises to accommodate vast amount of attendees. The atmosphere was described as “buzzing” by one team of young lawyers.
Rebecca and Mark had the pleasure of meeting Julie Burton, Partner at Julie Burton Law and former winner of one of the awards. Ms Burton had been involved in the very lengthy judging process, having considered over 1000 pages of applications. It was clear she felt humbled by the calibre of the lawyers and how much of their time had been devoted to the job.
Our congratulations go to;
Jed Pennington from Bhatt Murphy for winning Young Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year.
Shu Shin Luh from Garden Court Chambers for winning Young Legal Aid Barrister of the Year.
Rachel Horman from Watson Ramsbottom for winning Family Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year.
Rosaleen Kilbane from Community Law Partnership for winning Social and Welfare Lawyer of the Year.

Liz Barratt from Bindmans for winning Immigration Lawyer of the Year.
Leslie Thomas from Garden Court Chambers for winning Legal Aid Barrister.
Turpin & Miller Solicitors for winning Legal Aid Firm/Not-for-profit agency.
The event went without a hitch and the canapés were delicious. It certainly seemed like a great time was had by all, despite the forthcoming changes to Legal Aid.
Thanks LALY for a very enjoyable evening. We will definitely be attending next year.
