We are delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Jackson to the role of Regional Manager at the Norwich Office as at 1st June 2013. To help you get to know Emma....
How long have you been employed by John M Hayes?
I joined John M Hayes in 2007 after seeing an advert for a Costs Draftsman. I wasn’t sure what it entailed but it looked interesting so I applied and got the job.
Background?
I am originally from Sheffield and grew up in Chesterfield with an educational background in Maths and Science. I then went on to study Law which included a year at KU Leuven in Belgium specialising in Space Law. I even completed a fascinating placement at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands, although unfortunately I have never put these skills to use!
Why costing?
To be honest I stumbled upon this by chance. It was a job in the legal sector that also suited me very well due to my interest in numbers. A perfect combination!
What do you enjoy most about the job?
The variety, every file is a different story and we get to see how they play out from start to finish. I particularly enjoy public law proceedings and medical negligence matters.
Three words to describe John M Hayes?
Knowledgeable, Friendly, Efficient
You work out of the Norwich office, if we wanted to visit Norwich City what would you recommend us to do or see?
Norwich is a great place to live and work. A particular highlight is Cinema City which provides a great atmosphere as a fine restaurant and cosy bar, but is also an old fashioned, small screen cinema in a 14th century building. Take a wander down all the old side streets and lanes as there are a host of quirky boutiques, bars and cafes to try out.
Where is your dream holiday destination?
I have an eight year old pet tortoise called Clyde so I would love to visit the Galapagos Islands to see the giant tortoises. The bioluminescence at night in the Cayman Islands is also very attractive.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
As an animal lover I am currently studying amphibians and reptiles for a Diploma in Herpetology. Ashtanga Yoga and dressmaking are my other passions.
