Climb For Justice 2018
In this post, Costs Draftsman Shaun Williams reports on his expedition up Mount Snowden with colleagues from around the country to raise money for access to justice and the London Legal Support Trust:
“Last week end, eight of us intrepid costs draftsmen travelled from all over the country to climb Snowdon together to represent the John M Hayes Partnership on our “Climb for Justice”. We were met with some pretty poor conditions, driving rain and wind – waterproofs donned from the very start – but no one seemed to mind, we just got on with it!
We met up beforehand and caught the bus to Pen-y-pass to start our trek. There are various routes to the top of the mountain and we selected the Miners Track. This starts with a fairly steady walk before ascending well-built steps to join the Pyg Track. It then becomes a real climb zig zagging up the mountain whilst the weather conditions worsened and we tried to keep our footing on the slippery rocks.
After a final push to the top we huddled up for a quick photograph and headed for the café to dry off and get a well earned hot drink!
After a short break for lunch we headed down the mountain on a longer but steadier path (Llanberis Path) although this posed its own challenges with it being very steep with loose rocks to negotiate.
On the way down the clouds cleared briefly so we took the opportunity to take some photographs and when we made it to the bottom, we were all looking forward to getting some food and resting our feet. Two of our team (Ed Hogan and his wife Becci) had a 8 and a half hour drive ahead of them to get home to relieve their baby sitter others including me and Dave Disney had a 4 and a half hour drive back. So we changed into some dry clothes and headed straight off – a long, satisfying day!
Our guide later told us that we did the climb faster than any other group they’ve had of our size – we were all really pleased with that – although we had very sore legs the following day, we are proud that we all managed the walk especially in those conditions!”
The team from John M Hayes was “Climbing for Justice” and walking to raise money for The London Legal Support Trust. If you would like to help us reach our target its not too late to donate to our fund raising page
Shaun Williams is based at our Bristol Office.
