LAA Announce Roll Out for Online CCMS
The Online Client and Cost Management System (CCMS) is currently being piloted in the North East and the LAA have now announced the timetable for the national roll out.
There will be a two stage approach to the roll out, with providers switching to online working on the following dates:
20 January - Civil providers with an organisation name starting with A-F
31 March - Civil providers with an organisation name starting with G-Z or a number
This will be a radical change to how legal aid cases are managed. All applications for legal aid will be completed on line, as will all applications for amendment, payments on account and final bills. It is also not simply a case of completing existing forms online, instead you will be taken through a series of questions within the system. CCMS has been set up to be 'rules based' and therefore the specific questions you will have to answer will depend on the answers given to previous questions.
Providers in the first group will be receiving introductory packs in the next few days and will then be encouraged to access the online training that the LAA provide. It will be vitally important that providers are ready for this change and we would encourage you to go through the online training sessions to try to get as much of an understanding of the system as possible prior to your start date.
We have been preparing claims for costs through online CCMS as part of the pilot and are therefore perfectly placed to continue to deal with all aspects of your legal aid costing once you have moved onto the system. We would encourage you to get in touch with us in advance of your start date and we can advise you how we can ensure that the online billing process runs as smoothly as possible for you.
