The Legal Aid Agency has announced that the usage of the Client and Cost Management System is being extended as part of a more gradual roll out of the system nationally.
The system is now available to a small number of providers in Manchester, Leeds and the Midlands and the LAA will continue to review the progress of the system throughout April and May. The intention is to extend usage on a larger scale following successful completion of this intermediate phase.
The original plan for the roll out of CCMS was of course put on hold in January to allow for further enhancements to be made to the system. Although some improvements have been made we continue to experience regular technical issues and in any event many of the concerns with the system are based on the way that it has been set up. We therefore remain concerned that to adequately address those concerns it would require more of a fundamental redesign of the system rather than technical enhancements.
