Law Costs Draftsman
Kenny joined John M Hayes in 2013 having worked for another national inter partes costing firm prior to this. Kenny studied at the University of Birmingham where he obtained his LLB (Hons). During his time at University, Kenny took part in several mooting competitions and was part of the debating society.
Maintaining a varied caseload, Kenny undertakes both Inter-Partes and Publicly Funded work.
Kenny undertakes all areas of publicly funded work including Civil, Family, Care and CCMS cases and is a specialist in the preparation of six column Bill of Costs. Kenny has a real passion for arguing and appealing to the LAA.
Kenny has been appointed as one of our legal aid specialists and is recognised as such both internally and externally. Kenny provides training to solicitors through our established national legal aid seminars designed at maximising solicitor’s costs and in order to help to avoid rejections. Kenny also takes responsibility for keeping our Costs Draftsmen up to date on Legal Aid developments.
Kenny also specialises and is experienced in all areas of drafting inter partes Bill of Costs, drafting Points of Dispute and Points of Reply and welcomes any negotiation work arising as a result or otherwise. Kenny also undertakes the preparation and negotiation of Costs Budgets.
Kenny has dealt with costs in matters involving complex CFA issues, boundary disputes and Litigant in Persons. In addition to this Kenny undertakes Court of Protection work.
Kenny is part of our national advocacy team and has attended hearings to include opposing an application to set aside a Default Costs Certificate and for relief from sanctions. Kenny has a keen interest in advocacy and welcomes instructions to attend detailed assessments, CCMCs and application hearings.
Kenny assists Laura, the London and South East Regional Manager with the running of the offices and takes on managerial responsibilities in Laura’s absence.
Outside of work Kenny enjoys travelling the world, especially to South America. Kenny enjoys watching and playing both tennis and cricket and has undertaken his first marathon. Kenny also enjoys cooking and spending time with his family.
