Regional Manager
Christopher joined John M Hayes as a trainee in 2013 and was offered the role of Acting Regional Manager in 2014 before assuming the position on a permanent basis in January 2015. He attended the University of Chester where he achieved an LL.B (Hons) degree (First Class) prior to being called to the Bar in 2010. Before joining John M Hayes, Christopher practised as an Advocate whilst lecturing in public and commercial law at undergraduate level.
In tandem with his duties as Regional Manager, Christopher maintains a busy caseload of varying complexity. In addition to drafting bills of costs in both publicly funded and inter partes matters, Christopher also accepts instructions to prepare points of dispute, draft formal replies and negotiate settlements in a variety of legal areas. He is frequently instructed by clients to advise in relation to technical costs queries and regularly undertakes work in relation to the assignment of CFAs, QOCS, the various Portals and costs budgeting. Christopher delivers internal and external training and is a seasoned advocate who possesses a sound working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules. His advocacy experience extends to both costs-related advocacy (including hearings at the SCCO) and civil matters generally. Christopher is a contributor to the Personal Injury Brief Update Law Journal.
Outside of work, Christopher captains a local football team (Real Rossendale FC), practises Muay Thai kickboxing and is a classically trained pianist with a love for classical music. He enjoys epistemology, theology and spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their two young children, Darcy and Oliver.
