Leeds / Ilkley Office
- Jeff Paget BEd - Chief Executive
Jeff joined The John M Hayes Partnership in 1985 and began his career managing the Amersham office before moving to set up the Ilkley office in 1989. He has covered all aspects of law costs drafting including non contentious probate and court of protection work. As Chief Executive, Jeff spends the majority of his time running the company but also works as a consultant providing advice and assistance to all staff at Ilkley.
- Kate Potts BA (Hons) - Regional Manager
Kate has been with The John M Hayes Partnership since 1991 and has extensive experience of all aspects of law cost drafting, with particular interest in clinical negligence and serious injury claims. Kate works regularly in-house for clients around the region and continues to prepare points of dispute, detailed replies and to attend detailed assessment hearings in local courts.
- Norman Walker
Norman joined The John M Hayes Partnership in 1991 and covers all aspects of legal costing from publicly funded matters to complex commercial litigation. He has worked in-house for the same firm of solicitors in Leeds on a weekly basis for over 14 years. Between 1996 and 2005, Norman was the manager of the Ilkley/Leeds offices and is now semi-retired, working mainly on family and criminal cases.
- Jackie Woods Bsc (Hons)
Jackie joined The John M Hayes Partnership in October 1996 and has extensive experience in all aspects of legal costs. Her particular areas of expertise are in preparing civil inter partes bills, preparing Points of Dispute and Replies, and undertaking settlement negotiations on behalf of clients. She has also been involved in attending detailed assessment hearings.
Jackie also has extensive experience in preparing publicly funded costs claims, and has been involved in working in house for different clients.
- Chris Hepworth
Chris, since joining The John M Hayes Partnership in 2001, works in-house with solicitors around the region, dealing with all aspects of work including administration and advice on high cost case plans for the LSC. Chris is also experienced in preparing Court of Protection and criminal bills.
- Paul Sanderson BA
Paul joined The John M Hayes Partnership in 2000 and has experience of criminal work, private client bills and personal injury claims. He currently specialises in all aspects of family work including fixed fee claims in public law cases.
- Sally Halmshaw BA (Hons)
Sally joined The John M Hayes Partnership in 2002 and is experienced in all areas of law costs drafting, including preparation of points of dispute, replies, detailed assessment hearings and negotiating settlements. Sally is particularly experienced in family matters due to her previous employment as a case worker with the LSC, but currently deals with more complex personal injury and commercial matters. Sally is an Associate Member of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen.
- Susan Black BSc (Hons)
Sue joined The John M Hayes Partnership in 2003 and is experienced in family, care and civil work including the preparation of bills and Claim 1’s for the LSC. Sue has also prepared non-contentious probate bills and has worked on an interesting clergy discipline bill (the first in the country)! Sue is a registered student of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen.
- Lee Coulthard BA (Oxon)
Lee joined The John M Hayes Partnership in 2008 and has prepared bills of costs in publicly funded family matters and is currently working on inter-partes bills in personal injury matters. He has prepared bills of costs in publicly funded family matters and is currently working on inter-partes bills in personal injury matters. He has begun negotiations arising from this work.
- Amanda Paget BA (Hons)
Amanda was initially involved with the Partnership in an administrative role in 1985 within the Amersham office. She subsequently helped to set up the Ilkley office when it opened in 1989.
She rejoined the company as a trainee costs draftsperson specialising in criminal costs, but also covering publicly funded family work, commencing in January 2010.
- Lisa McLaughlin, BSc
Lisa joined The John M Hayes Partnership in 2009. Her background is in basic and clinical research, non-profit management, and web design. She is currently working on Claim1’s and bills of costs in publicly funded and civil matters.
- Helen Spears
Helen has been with The John M Hayes Partnership since 1995. Helen is an experienced administrator and is a first point of contact for those who call the office.
- Susan Moore
Susan joined The John M Hayes Partnership in 2009 and works part time as an administration assistant.
