Vacancies for Experienced Costs Practitioners

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Costs Draftsman for our Amersham office.

Skills and Experience required: 

We require a Costs Draftsman or someone with a similar costing background who possesses a minimum of 1 year’s experience in drafting Legal Aid claims and/or inter partes bills of costs.

Experience in preparing legal aid claims and bills of costs including high costs case plans is essential.

A working knowledge of the current Legal Aid guidelines is essential. An awareness of the upcoming changes to the LAA billing process is preferred but not essential.

Experience in drafting inter-partes bills of costs and experience in negotiating and preparing points of dispute, replies, applications and costs budgets is preferred but not essential.

Candidates are expected to have a high level of numeracy and literacy. The required candidate must possess the ability to summarise and quantify voluminous information and to write concise English. You should be confident dealing with figures.

The require candidate must be ambitious, hardworking and must possess the ability to work within a team when required. The candidate will also be able to work to targets and also work under pressure when required.

You should be confident, assertive and articulate as the role will require communicating with other legal professionals.

The Amersham office role does allow for significant flexibility such as working from home and/or self employment. These options can be discussed if a candidate is invited for an interview.

Vacancies for Trainee Law Costs Draftsmen

We are currently looking to recruit Sixth Form & College leavers, educated to A-Level standard, in our Amersham, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Haywards Heath, Ilkley, Manchester, Newcastle and Norwich offices.

Our Norwich Office also has an opportunity for a graduate to join their small, friendly, team as a Trainee Law Costs Draftsman. The ideal candidate must be educated to degree level, although the undergraduate degree need not be in law.

Strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential as well as meticulous attention to detail, willingness to learn and engage with training and as part of the team. Advocacy experience, whether in a professional or educational capacity, is advantageous but not essential. No experience is necessary as full training will be given.
